Professor Matam Gal

Dr. Matan Gal-Katziri is a Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, where he leads the Microelectronic Arrays and RF Systems (MARS) Lab.

He received his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and Physics from Ben-Gurion University, and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), where he later served as a postdoctoral research associate. Prior to joining academia, he worked for several years as an RFIC Design Engineer.

His research focuses on RFIC design, phased arrays, precision sensors, flexible electronics, and miniaturized RF hardware systems. Current work in the lab spans mechanically flexible phased arrays, low-cost electronic sensing for precision agriculture and environmental monitoring, and hybrid CMOS-photonics integration.

His publications have appeared in Nature ElectronicsIEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuitsnpj Flexible ElectronicsActa Astronautica, and Smart Agricultural Technology.

Dr. Gal-Katziri has received the 2020 IMS Best Advanced Practice Paper Award, the 2023 BGU Musher Award, and earlier honors from Analog Devices and Ben-Gurion University. He regularly collaborates with industry and with Ben-Gurion University’s Sde Boker Drylands Institute. His recent research support includes ISF research funding, a new-faculty equipment grant, and several environment-sensing-related projects.
