OverviewAbout Us

Welcome to Microelectronic Arrays and RF Systems Lab!

At the MARS Lab, we study high-speed integrated circuits (ICs) as a means to interface with the physical world and interact with it. We are interested in a wide range of physical phenomena and in how they can be translated into measurable signals, with a strong emphasis on architectures for system miniaturization. We are also interested in using large arrays of tiny, low-cost, low-power ICs to sense, process, and communicate—and in the fundamental benefits and limits of doing so.

Although we design integrated circuits, we ground our work in rigorous system-level understanding to keep it tangible and meaningful. While we are an academic experimental research lab, our work has direct practical implications that are closely aligned with industry interests. Our graduates gain the tools and mindset to become future leaders—whether they pursue academic, entrepreneurial, or corporate careers.

Research Areas

Our lab conducts research across a diverse range of topics in electrical and computer engineering, with a particular focus on signal processing. Projects in the lab explore both theoretical foundations and practical applications, addressing challenges in areas such as autonomous systems, biomedical devices, wireless communication, and intelligent sensing. By integrating advanced algorithms with real-world implementation, the lab aims to develop innovative solutions that push the boundaries of technology:

  • Machine Learning: The lab develops advanced machine learning algorithms to enable intelligent decision-making in complex and dynamic environments.
  • Signal Processing: Research in signal processing focuses on efficient techniques for analyzing, filtering, and interpreting signals.
  • Embedded Systems: The lab designs and optimizes embedded systems for real-time, resource-constrained applications in domains such as robotics.
  • Hardware-Software Co-Design: Efforts in hardware-software co-design aim to create integrated solutions that balance performance and power.
